Air-core coils are, for physical reasons, unbeatable as far as accurate pulse reproduction and freedom from distortion are concerned.For this reason, for all the purists, we stock air cored coils with wire diameters of up to 3.0 mm.It is also possible in this way to create greater inductances with relatively low internal resistance.
Baked varnish coils of this type can be found at the end of this chapter. Their type series description is preceded in each case with a ‘b’. Baked varnish wire is available up to a max. size of 1.4 mm (respectively 1.59 mm litz). For a larger winding diameter, vacuum impregnation is used. (see here about the advantage of vacuum impregnation).
